Travel Policy for Passengers Traveling to Mexico
TNT Vacations is proud to say that for the past 35 years our foremost concern is the safety and wellbeing of our customers. For this reason we are watching the situation regarding Influenza A (H1N1) ("Swine Flu") very closely. We understand our customers will require extra information, support and flexibility as they make their travel plans and decisions especially to Mexico. Our company is committed to doing everything we can to ensure that a TNT Vacation is something our customers can look forward to with confidence and anticipation.
Travel Alert to Mexico No Longer in Effect
Mexico City, May 15, 2009 – The U.S. Department of State’s travel alert to Mexico due to the H1N1 influenza outbreak is no longer in effect. This announcement was made right after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lifted its travel warning against all nonessential travel to Mexico.
The CDC announced that the “warning” was downgraded to a “Travel Health Precaution,” which is directed at those who are at high risk of complications due to any kind of influenza.
Daniel Jernigan, Deputy Director of the CDC’s influenza division, says that there is no evidence that the Influenza A (H1N1) virus is becoming stronger.
“Mexico’s government and tourism authorities are very satisfied with the decision taken by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and consequently, the U.S. Department of State, to lift the H1N1 influenza alert against nonessential travel to Mexico. Our main priority continues to be the safety of our citizens and visitors, and with evidence that the flu appears to be less threatening than originally thought, Mexico is ready to welcome back all of its visitors and offer them the hospitality and services that have always distinguished us,” said Rodolfo Elizondo, Mexico’s Minister of Tourism.
It is important to highlight that, according to the CDC, the increasing number of cases that are being seen in the United States and other countries are not directly associated with travel to Mexico.
Countries such as Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Italy, Austria, Belgium, United Kingdom and Switzerland have also lifted their advisories against travel to Mexico and have resumed all commercial flights to the country.
Carnival Cruise Lines has also announced that they will resume all scheduled port calls to Mexico once all previously modified trips are completed.
“There is no doubt that the H1N1 has hit our country very hard; specially the tourism sector, an essential part of our economy. Mexico is known for its capacity of coming out of tough situations even stronger, and this will not be the exception. The travel industry -at all levels- is ready to offer its visitors what they come here for: diversity, culture, relaxation, luxury, adventure, world class infrastructure and most importantly, the best service in the world,” added Oscar Fitch, CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board.
I returned from Mexico on April 25th after a fabulous vacation with my children in Riviera Maya. On our return, we experienced no delays or problems whatsoever passing through the airport, customs or immigration. We all remained completely healthy and had an amazing time! We’d go back tomorrow if we could! As always, I consider Mexico, particular the Riviera Maya area extremely safe, clean and a perfect family vacation spot! - D. Newport
I wanted to let you know that we recently traveled to Mexico (amongst the swine flu hype). We had a terrific time and would not hesitate to go back! We love the Iberostar Maya and always find it to be impeccably clean and safe. The truth is, we had one of the most relaxing vacations ever and didn’t experience any of the virus frenzy until we got home to the US! Thanks for a great vacation TNT!!! - A. Dion
Our family had a fantastic trip to the Riviera Maya over school vacation week in April. This was our third visit to the Iberostar Paraiso Maya and our first booking a charter through TNT Vacations. Everything about our vacation was stress-free and delightful. Smooth traveling, wonderful service, and a safe, healthy visit to Mexico. Thank you TNT Vacations for a memorable week. We can't wait to do it again! - A. Greenspan
Rebooking Policy
TNT Vacations will waive its change fees on vacations departing within the time frame where the airline and/or the hotel are NOT imposing their own change fees. If the new air price is more, the passengers are
responsible for the difference. Any refund due will be issued in cash or to your credit card depending on how your initial payment was made. Passengers DO NOT have to use their Travel Protection Plan to make a change. TNT Vacations has negotiated with our Hotel Partners to waive their change fees with limited booking parameters and most are in compliance. (Although if there is a Hotel penalty incurred it will be passed along to the passenger.
For detailed information and departing time frame for each airline please follow the links below:
Passengers who choose to rebook their vacation but fall
outside of the Airlines or Hotels rebooking parameters:

Any refund due will be issued in cash or to your credit card depending on how your initial payment was made. In order to continue coverage on their new vacation passengers must repurchase a TPP. If a TPP was not purchased TNT Vacations will waive its change fee to rebook, but again passengers will be responsible for any additional Hotel and Airline charges and fees.
Cancellation Policy:
If a Travel Protection Plan (TPP) was purchased, passengers can use the TPP to cancel their vacation,
and will be responsible for the cost of the TPP and administrative fee.
If a TPP was not purchased, passengers will be under normal cancellation policy and
fees listed in our Tour Participation Contract (TPC).
Flu Free Guarantee as seen on USA Today
Desperate to woo back travelers who canceled trips amid Mexico's swine flu outbreak, 20 coastal resort hotels have launched a "flu-free guarantee": Guests who contract the H1N1 virus in Mexico-and have the blood test to prove it-can get their next three vacations for free.
The initiative comes as the country's tourism industry tallies staggering losses from a flu epidemic that Mexican officials first confirmed on April 23. When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned travelers against non-essential travel to Mexico, U.S. cruise lines dropped port calls, airlines waived cancellation fees and resorts emptied.
The advisory remains in effect despite lobbying efforts from Mexico hoteliers and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association. The new flu guarantee is offered at Real Resorts, AMResorts and Karisma's El Dorado and Azul hotels. About 15 Cancun hotels have closed because of low occupancy and many are slashing rates. :
